PREVIEW | KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE RESERVES VS BINGHAM TOWN

PREVIEW | KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE RESERVES VS BINGHAM TOWN

Dave Morley1 Apr - 19:09

ANOTHER HUGE MATCH AT THE STAG FOR THE RESERVES

UP NEXT, the reserves are under the lights at The Stag Ground again as they welcome fellow championship hopefuls, Bingham Town. With just four matches to go, the miners will be fully aware of the importance of this match.

Kimberley head into the fixture in fantastic form, winning eight and drawing two of their last ten matches, scoring 37 goals over that period.

Bingham Town have won five and lost three over the same period, with two draws along the way, one being against Kimberley. They have scored 29 goals over the last ten matches.

Last weekend, the reserves hosted AC United, whom they had earlier shared the points in a rough draw in December. This match started in much the same way, with AC United employing some strong arm tactics from the start of the game. Louis Fazal found himself floored after an early elbow. It was AC who thought they’d struck first, only for the offside flag to be raised and give the hosts an early reprieve. A thunderbolt from Bijan Pakrouz sent the miners on their way, closely followed by Josh Caley bundling the ball over the line to double the lead. AC got themselves back into the game on the stroke of half time. The visitors came out of the blocks hard in the second half. A Kimberley attack saw the ball go out for a disputed corner, which saw an AC defender receive a red card for abusing the linesman. Minutes later, a second player was sent off for a second yellow card after another flying elbow. Two more goals in three minutes through Louis Fazal and Lewis Deavin wrapped up the win for the miners, leaving them needing two wins from the remaining four matches to win the league.
Final Score - Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves 4 - 1 AC United

Bingham Town kept up the pressure on the top three at the weekend with a 7-0 away win over Clifton All Whites Reserves. Five goals from Jacob Boyes were accompanied by one each from Joe Hornigold and Harry Stannard to go fifteen points behind the leaders with three games in hand.

LAST TIME AROUND

The two sides last met in October, where Bingham ran out comfortable winners. Jacob Boyes scored twice and Kieran Stanley and Angus Millar sealed the 4-0 for Bingham.

FINALLY

Both teams will be fully aware of the importance of this match. A Kimberley win would essentially and Bingham's title challenge, while a Bingham win would keep the chase very much alive for themselves and AFC Colsterworth in second spot.

Please come along and support the lads.

The bar will be open from 6pm
