UP NEXT, the reserves are finally back at The Stag Ground for a Friday night match under the lights as they welcome AC United knowing that a result on Friday will pile the pressure on the teams below them with second placed East Leake Robins facing third placed AFC Colsterworth on Saturday.
Kimberley head into the fixture in fantastic form, winning nine and drawing three of their last twelve matches, scoring 49 goals over the same period.
AC United have won five and lost five over the same period, with two draws along the way, one being against Kimberley. They have both scored and conceded 28 goals over the last twelve matches.
Last weekend, the reserves travelled to face second placed AFC Colsterworth in a championship six pointer. The miners scored twice in the first half through Toby Gibbs and Alfie Newbold to take the victory. The win keeps them six points clear at the top, with a game in hand over newly second placed East Leake Robins. Kimberley need ten points from the next five matches to win the league. There's still a lot of work to do over the next few weeks, starting with AC United at home on Friday night.
Final Score - AFC Colsterworth 0-2 Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves
AC United travelled to face mid table Ravenshead last weekend. Goals from Matt Fowler and Theo Townsend were not enough for AC as Ravenhead scored four to take the victory.
LAST TIME AROUND
The two sides last met in December at the Forest Sports Zone. A feisty encounter saw AC United take the lead, only for first team player Ben Morley in a match getting back up to speed following an ankle injury equalise just six minutes later. AC restored their lead on the half hour mark to lead at half time. Substitute Chris Neilson equalised again midway through the second half and a Louis Fazal stunner put the miners in the lead ten minutes later. They were unable to hold on as AC United equalised in injury time.
The two sides met in October last year at the Forest Sports Zone. Luca Burton, Matt Dickinson and Josh Eaton scored the goals for Kimberley as AC United only scored twice in reply through Theo Townsend and Courtney Brown. 3-2 to Kimberley.
The match at The Stag Ground last season saw Dylan Thornley grab a late consolation for Kimberley after Courtney Brown scored twice and Macauley Reid added another for a 3-1 to AC United
FINALLY
A win on Friday will put the miners a step closer to the title and heap the pressure on the chasing pack. After a competitive encounter in horrible weather in December, both sides will no doubt be well up for this game.
Please come down and support the lads as the end of the season is in sight. They need all the help that they can get in their push for the championship.
