UP NEXT, with six matches remaining, the reserves make the trip just outside Grantham to face second placed AFC Colsterworth in a championship six pointer. Kimberley sit in top spot with Colstyerworth six points behind, with a game in hand.
Kimberley head into the fixture in fantastic form, winning seven and drawing three of their last ten matches, scoring thirty seven goals over the same period.
AFC Colsterworth have an almost identical record over the same number of matches, however, losing once and drawing twice in that run, scoring a goal more.
Last weekend, the reserves travelled to face Meden Vale Colts in another vital match in their promotion push. The match had a familiar feel throughout as Meden Vale took the lead early in both halves, only for Owen Evans to equalise for the miners in added time on both occasions. The draw sees them sitting six points above AFC Colsterworth, who have a game in hand and are the next opposition.
Final Score - Meden Vale Colts 2-2 Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves
AFC Colsterworth’s last match was also last Saturday, where they faced Clifton All Whites Reserves. Haniel Marasco, Eathan Milne, Sam Scothern and Harry Stubbs scored the goals in a 4-2 win to move them back into second spot.
LAST TIME AROUND
The two sides last met in November at The Stag Ground. A single goal from Eathan Milne gave Colsterworth the win.
FINALLY
A win will see Kimberley move nine points clear of Colsterworth and needing ten points from the remaining five matches to win the league. A win for Colsterworth will see them move just three points behind with a game in hand. A massive match for both sides, with East Leake Robins still in the hunt sitting level on points with Colsterworth, but having played a game more than the miners and two more than the team in second.
