CLUB ANNOUNCMENT

Dave Morley21 Mar - 07:11

Planning permission granted for new clubhouse

Kimberley Miners Welfare are pleased to announce that we have received planning permission for the demolition of our existing building, which is to be replaced with a brand-new, purpose-built clubhouse and changing room facility.

This project has long been in the development stages but is now accelerating following the final approval from Broxtowe Borough Council.

Chairman Ryan Doherty had this to say; 'we are delighted that planning approval has been granted by Broxtowe Borough Council for the new Miners Recreation Ground Pavilion. This is a special moment not only for the Club, but for the wider community and residents of Kimberley. We are very grateful to all the efforts of Broxtowe Borough Council, Kimberley Town Council and the Miners Recreation Ground Trust in their work on this'.

Vice Chairman Steve Hobster added 'we cannot wait for the works to be completed and welcome in a new era for our football club and town. In the 35 years I've been with Kimberley MW, this is by far the biggest thing that's happened to us and I would like to thank all the councillors that made this happen, with special thanks to Trevor Rood and Neil Doherty'.

It is expected that work will commence as soon as this season has concluded with the hope that the facility will ready to open in early 2026. This will involve a period where The Miners will need to find a temporary home, and we hope that our loyal support will follow us on this short-term venture.
